Wikimedians of the Islamic Civilization User Group/Mission and goals
Wikimedians of Islamic Civilisation is a thematic user group, it cross-borders, countries, transnations, and languages. It is for every person interested in Islamic traditions, cultures, and civilizations. The objective of the user group is to disseminate knowledge and enhance understanding of Islamic civilization and heritage. Our fundamental beliefs are: You are welcome to join us if you are interested in Islamic civilization, whether you are Wikimedians or not. The work should be added with reliable resources.
Goals edit
Our user group goal is:
- to have full coverage of the Islamic civilization by documenting this heritage in all languages, mainly 4 main languages (English, Arabic, Persian, Turkish)
- This user group is cross-wikis welcomes and supports contributions to all Wikimedia projects.
- We aim to create partnerships with GLAM (Museums, Academic institutions, NGOs) who are interested in this mission.
- Add New high-resolution photos for Several Key Islamic sites (exterior and interior)
- Add New high-resolution photographs of old Documents or manuscripts written using the Arabic script, whether written in Arabic or any other language from the region and use them on Wikisource.
- Create translation workshops to translate content related to specific aspects of the Islamic civilization from a particular country, into English and then to the other 2 languages (Example: Turkish to English, English to Arabic and Persian).
