Background

edit

The aim of Wikisource Loves Nepali Manuscripts is to discover and preserve manuscripts pertaining to Nepal's diverse ethnic, minority, and marginalized communities. Leveraging AI-powered tools, we aim to digitally archive these manuscripts. Subsequently, we will engage the global community, particularly in Nepal, to transcribe and translate them into accessible languages such as Nepali and English. Through this initiative, we address existing inequalities that hinder access to manuscripts from these groups.

Furthermore, our project endeavors to digitally safeguard these manuscripts for posterity, ensuring that future generations can benefit from them. We will actively involve members of the ethnic, minority, and marginalized communities in interacting with and deriving knowledge from their own historical manuscripts.

By rendering manuscripts and their knowledge accessible in widely spoken languages like Nepali and English, we aim to make them more approachable for the general public. Additionally, our efforts will grant free access to the wealth of knowledge contained within these manuscripts, fostering greater inclusivity and understanding.
