Wikimedians of Chicago User Group/Letter of intent

Dear Wikimedia Affiliates and Community Members,

We are excited to announce the revival of the Wikimedians of Chicago User Group. This user group aims to promote community participation in the Chicago area by hosting in-person events and meetups, as well as encouraging new editors by hosting fun events around the city and collaborating with local organizations.

Mission

Our mission is to foster community among the Wikimedians of the Chicagoland area. We are committed to supporting the Wikimedia movement by organizing events, workshops, edit-a-thons, and collaborations with local libraries, universities, etc.

Focus Area

Our group will primarily focus on the Chicago area. Specifically, we are based in Chicago, IL and plan to extend our activities within this area, fostering connections with local communities and institutions.

Current Location and Regional Activities

Our group is currently located in Chicago, and we aim to collaborate with local affiliates and communities across Chicago to ensure widespread participation and representation in our activities. I have communicated with the previous administrators of this usergroup (who are no longer able to run the group due to changing life circumstances) and will follow up on our previous collaborations with professors at UIC and the Black Lunch Table usergroup.

Call for Collaboration

We welcome collaboration and support from other affiliates and individuals across the Wikimedia movement. We believe that working together with other user groups and affiliates will enhance our efforts and strengthen the global Wikimedia ecosystem.
