Membership and authorities
edit- General Assembly
- Traditionally, during Wikimedia Polska Conference 2010 we had general assembly of WMPL on March 27. 31 members of WMPL attended the assembly. Due to the end of the term of WMPL authorities’ election for the new ones were performed. Also, official reports (general and financial) of the WMPL Board were approved. Before assembly there was a long discussion about general directions and goals for WMPL for next 2 years.

Meetings
edit- Wikimedia Polska Conference 2010
- Wikimedia Polska Conference 2010 [1] was the fifth such an event organised by Wikimedia Polska Association. The Conference took place on March 27th and 28th in Warsaw at Zachęta - the National Art Gallery. There were around 110 participants of whom there were 2 Russians, 2 Ukrainians and 2 Americans. 11 lectures and 4 workshops were provided, related not only to Wikimedia Projects but also open education and open geo-maps projects.
- Photo-Wiki Workshop
- Photo-Wiki Workshop [2] - a workshop devoted to the improving quality of pictures uploaded by Polish Wikimedians took place in Lodz, on 1-3 May 2010. 19 participants shared their experience during two in-door workshops and had opportunity to test their skill during two outdoor and museums photo-sessions.. The participants uploaded 332 pictures see category on Commons from which 3 were awarded.
- Warsaw meeting [3]
- WMPL supported financially a meeting of wikimedians from Warsaw. The meeting took place on May 21 2010, 24 people participated.
- Wikimania 2010
- Although Wikimedia Polska was not directly involved in organizing Wikimania in Gdansk, we have covered costs of 17 scholarships for people from Poland, Russia, Ukraine and Czech Republic. We have also organized and paid for healthcare service during Wikimania.
Promotion
edit- Bulletin
- [4] 7 issues of Wikimedia Polska bulletins were published; The Bulletin contains news from Polish and Silesian Wikimedia Projects, Wikimedia Foundation; cartoon and nostalgia sections as well as news from outside world .
- Book Fair "Svět knihy 2010"
- Two members of WMPL participated in Book Fair "Svět knihy 2010" in Prague together with colleagues from WMCZ. One corner of WMCZ book fair booth was used for promoting Polish Wikimedia projects and Polish free licensed books.
- Vikunia support in Zoo
- WMPL donated food for a family of vicunas living in Zoo in Lodz. The plate near the vicunas run informs about Wikipedia.
- Cooperation with Wnet Radio
- In regular cooperation with "Open Studio" of Wnet Radio several interviews and Wikipedia/Wikinews tutorials were broadcasted.
Outreach activities
edit- Pro-Wikimedia Award [5]
- Pro-Wikimedia Award is devoted to both individual non-Wikimedians, companies and institutions who donated content to Wikimedia Projects. The winners received special statues and took place in a celebration during the Wikimedia Polska 2010 annual meeting.
- Wikiworkshops
- 3 wikiworkshops were organized: in Gniezno for secondary school pupils [6], in Warsaw [7] for Polish Ethnographic Association and in [8] Sulejowek for Polish Librarian Association
- Lectures
- 11 lectures were given by members of WMPL during various conferences, meetings etc. both in Poland and abroad.
- Free licenses brochure [9]
- A brochure explaining how to properly use freely licensed content from Wikimedia projects. The brochure will be sent to those entities who violates free licenses or they ask how to use Wikimedia projects' content.
Others
edit- Wikiexpedtion [10]
- Wikiexpedtion is an expedition to selected places, which are not well covered in Wikipedia and/or Wikimedia Commons. Last year's Expedition covered Podlasie region and resulted in more than 2500 pictures uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. This year the expedition was split into 4 regular 7 days long journeys and 3 shorter ones. 17 people participated in the event including two people from WMCZ and one Amercian. Till now more than 2600 pictures were uploaded, and the uploading is still continuing.[11]
- Toolserver
- Our toolserver [12] is operating well. Several bots and other tools are working on it. It is also used as a listserver (lists of Polish Wikipedia admins, ArbCom list, Wikiexpedition list and several others) and it host Polish Coalition for Open Education website, internal wiki for Polish ArbCom, fundraising website, search engine placed under http://www.wikipedia.pl domain, etc.)
- Coalition for Open Education (KOED) [13]
- WMPL actively contributes in Coalition for Open Education; among others we helped to organize a workshop for OER trainers, supported publishing KOED's OER handbook and our server hosts KOED website and two mailing lists.
