editSaturday, January 16, Museum Catharijneconvent hosted Wikimedia Nederland's New Year's reception. 80 wikimedians attended the reception. Content
editErfgoed Gelderland (Heritage Gelderland)
editThe project plan for a Wikipedian-in-Residence was finalised and communicated to the member organisations of Erfgoed Gelderland, an associations of museums, historic buildings and heritage organisations from the province of Gelderland. The organisations that were present during a workshop on cooperating with Wikipedia in the summer of 2015 got an individual invitation to participate in the project, since they already expressed an interest in Wikipedia even before this project got off the ground. The list of participating organisations will be decided on in February so that funding can be applied for in March.
Wikipedia in Public Libraries
editThe project plans were further refined, including setting dates for activities. The project landing page was created. Project pages on previous public library-related activities (Wiki Loves Eemland, Wiki Loves Bieb, Bibliothekenproject) were redirected to this page to consolidate all information on one single page. In discussion with users Dick and Wilma, it was decided to merge their long-running Wikipedia-afternoons into the library program so that both activities can benefit from each other. The evaluation of the activities in Amersfoort resulted in the realisation that (1) participation is low, but (2) that everyone is willing to continue (both volunteers and the hosting organisation, the Eemhuis archive). It is hoped that the afternoons will draw more people now that more Wikipedia-related activities will be organised in cooperation with the library.
1Lib1Ref
editAs part of the celebrations of 15 years Wikipedia, the international action 1Lib1Ref was also held in the Netherlands. WMNL helped set up the Dutch project page and spread the word through its social media channels and library partners (the NIOD, the Royal Library) sent out emails to the contacts in their extensive networks and also blogged about it. On the Dutch WP the hashtag #1Lib1Ref seems to have been used 8 times by 7 different users, adding a net total of -57 bytes. The real number is slightly higher because the #-sign was left out in the edit summary, in which case the tool cannot find the edit.
Gendergap
editThe gendergap taskforce has decided about activities around International Womens Day in March. On 5 & 6 March we will have a writing event in reallife as well as online. Preparations will start in February. Goal: Increase content.
Education
editWikimedia Nederland held a presentation during a workshop on Wikipedia for employees of the university library of the University of Amsterdam and the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. Some 30 people were present and discussions ranged on the possibilities of Wikipedia for education and the role of the library - ranging from potential content uploads to a teach the teacher program where a course is developed that focuses on teaching lecturers how to incorporate Wikipedia into their classes.
