Wikipedia WorkshopEdit

Wikipedia Workshop for bloggers community was a part of Wiki-X event which was held tentatively on Friday, 7th January. The academy taught the members of the blogger community in Bangladesh, who have the facilities and the knowledge on how to post their knowledge on the Web in Bengali language, but are not entirely aware of Wikipedia, how its works and how to contribute to Wikipedia- especially in Bengali language. Moreover they were also interested in contributing to Wikimedia Commons with their photos and videos. Over 50 participants were participated at this academy.

MilestoneEdit

The idea of having a Bangladesh chapter began in 2009. Since then, Bangladeshi Wikimedians have been hosting regular offline activities for the purposes of realizing this goal. We formally submitted our bylaws to the Chapters Committee (now AffCom) in April 2011. Final approval from the Wikimedia Board of trustees came a few months later on October 3, 2011. We were the 39th chapter to be approved by the Wikimedia Foundation board.
