in a nutshell: Wikimedia Österreich works closely together with communities in the Central and Eastern European region, the annual regional conference is an important platform to intensify this collaboration. This year we provided input around Wikidata, technical tools, diversity and inclusion in affiliates as well as the Movement Strategy process to the program. We also forged new alliances and projects such as a joint WikiGap Event with the Slovak community in 2020. As every year, joint projects such as CEE Spring, which are supported by WMAT as a fiscal sponsor, were evaluated and refined for the next edition. WMAT also sponsored a very active Wikimedian from the CEE region who is visually impaired and does a lot of work to reduce barriers on the projects for people like them. Due to his presence this important equity topic was also part of the the conference and discussions.
what we contributed to this activity: Sending a staff member and supporting three volunteers (two from Austria and one from the CEE region without direct access to movement resources) with travel grants.
in a nutshell:The GLAMorous side of Wikidata - a day of presentations and workshops about the use of Wikidata in the area of libraries and bibliography, hosted at the main building of Viennas public libraries.
what we contributed to this activity: organization, staff, materials, travel costs for speakers
in a nutshell: the Wikidata Community in Austria is growing and getting more active (see also our report for the Wikidata @ Libraries event above), hence Wikimedia Österreich supports interested community members to attend the most important event for this project in Berlin. This year we supported a community member from our partner organization the Vienna Libraries.
what we contributed to this activity: Partial travel scholarship to Berlin.
in a nutshell: Wikiversity and Wikipedia editing as integral part of a university course by the University of Vienna, the University of Graz and the University of Salzburg
in a nutshell: regular community meet-up in WMAT's office; this time with a review of the images contributed to WikiDaheim 2019 and coordination of how to reach out to new contributors
