Wikimedia User Group Nigeria/Wikimedia Hub Enugu

Wiki Hub, Enugu shall be made up of adults’ resident in Enugu state who share a common interest of making knowledge freely and readily available online to users by contributing to Wikipedia and its sister projects. Membership of the club is open to people of all professions including Medical Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers, Librarian, Engineers, Bankers, Brokers, Artist, Scientist, Pharmacist, Military and Para-military personnel to mention but a few. Post graduate students of higher educational Institutions in Enugu State are welcomed.

The Secretariat of the Hub is resident at Nnamdi Azikiwe Library, University of Ni⁷geria, Nsukka with coordination from Wikimedia User Group, Nigeria (WUGN). It is the aim of the Hub to promote Wikimedia projects among Enugu State residents through trainings and participation in the execution of Wikimedia Nigeria major projects.

Objectives

  • To promote interest among Enugu State residents of the need to contribute to Wikipedia and its sister projects.
  • Document historic events at Enugu in Wikipedia and its sister projects
  • Promote use of Wikipedia among Students in Enugu State.

Proposed Activities

  • Sensitize the general public on the need to contribute to Wikipedia through radio talks.
  • Organise photographic festivals to capture tourist sites in Enugu State for upload to Wikipedia Commons.
  • Organise annual edit-a-thon to document recent developments in Enugu State.
