Wikiarabia Meetup edit

  • We started a discussion with the Arab participants and Ziad AlSufyani from KSA about the potential partnership with Misk.
  • monthly meetings to check in and share updates leading to Wiki Arabia in October
  • A suggestion was proposed to launch an Arabic Language User Group that will be later a Thematic Organisation. Tunisia may be the host country.
  • Movement strategy next steps. There will be some more updates about complete contribution from all of our countries, instead of the original Nigeria and Egypt only approach.

African Meetup edit

  • A mutual partnership betweek Iberocoop and WikiIndaba is being discussed. (more updates from both communities will be shared). Both communities need to support each others.
  • WikiIndaba Tunisia dates have to be between Feb and May 2018 (after WikiArabia Cairo, before Wikimania Cape Town, we have to avoid the wmcon)
  • We will discuss dates, logistics, and programme during the Africa Office Hours. Ian Douglas and Isla Haddow expressed their intention to help the TN team.
  • The meetup attendees read the open letter that was sent afterwards to the ED following WikiIndaba Accra. The letter gives insights and stress out the need for the African community.

Strategy track edit

  • All participants in the strategy track movement brainstormed about the future of the wikimedia mouvement and came up with 38 thematic statement related to 16 main categories, you can read them here; reducing knowledge gaps and supporting innovation seems to be the biggest challenges of the next 15 years.
  • We can still take part to the conversation about the future of the wikimedia movement and join or organize a discussion
