Items edit

  • Open Access Week
    • Kerryn has made contact with Tshwane University of Technology. They are doing something for OAW and are keen to involve us, but want to know what we are planning - Kerryn to keep contact and follow up.
    • Kerryn initiated contact with UNISA library services - no reply as yet, will follow up.
    • Kerryn offered to consult with Ian and then contact UCT. If he's not available to do a talk, maybe get funding for one of us to fly down to CT.
    • DR: No progress as yet, will follow up with Nhlanhla to plan for cooperation with Wits, including making contact with Library Services. Kerryn will also mail a contact of hers at Wits.
    • Charlene has contacted Isla, waiting for response.
  • Initial discussion around 'theme' or focus of presentations/ discussion during Open Access Week
    • Some suggestions raised, such as Wikimedia and Academia justifying it as a reasonable first step in finding resources, You know what Wikipedia can do for you, but what can you do for Wikipedia?, or just basics of Wikipedia
    • More input needed.
  • Continue investigation of possible Google project:
    • There has been lots of discussion on email; this was partially recapped in the meeting, including issues around critical mass of the project where it is to happen, good training and supervision, etc.
    • Review and start planning. Report back next meeting.
  • Schwag:
    • We will be able to get this where we have definite proposals for talks etc. where there will be good promotional opportunities.
  • Chapter incorporation and agreement:
    • David to make contact with Mohau, then get papers to Kerryn.
    • Kerryn will talk to Tobias about the agreement, with specific reference to the jurisdiction clause.
