Presentation and Motives

If I am chosen by my colleagues to do so, it would be an honor and a privilege for me to represent the Wikimedia Morocco User Group at the 2020 Wikimedia Summit in Berlin.

In support of my candidacy, I cite my intense involvement in article writing and editing, primarily in Arabic and English, on topics relating to Morocco; adding photos taken by myself and images in the public domain to Commons; adding documents to Wikisource; coordinating and managing items on Wikidata; participating in editathons and conferences such as Wikimania and WikiArabia 2019; etc. These activities, in addition to conferring with my colleagues in the Wikimedia Morocco User Group, have given me an intimate familiarity with and extensive knowledge of the particularities and needs of the Wikimedia in Morocco.

I, Ian Borim, humbly ask my colleagues—if they see me fit to represent them, and particularly if there is not another user that is equally or more qualified than I am—to support my candidacy to represent them at this event. إيان (talk) 16:44, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Presentation and motives

I, Rachid Ourkia writing on behalf of myself, kindly ask my friends from the Moroccan Wikimedia User Group to represent them in Berlin's Wikimedia Summit.

As a member of the Wikimedia Morocco user group, and as a witness of its first beginnings ,I have always had the chance to learn more and more about the community, therefore, I know very well its needs and challenges, and I believe I will be a great representative of Morocco in this conference to share and communicating the voice and the concerns of the community.

If I am chosen to do so, I would be very thrilled and very grateful as this my first time to attend an event like this one !.

thank you & good luck to all candidates :)

Presentation and motives:

I discovered Wikipedia a few years ago, when I had very limited internet ressources, thanks to my internet operator who allowed for a full viewing of the website on free of charge. And just like that I started looking for articles of personal interest, and soon, I realised that not everything was covered, so I started contributing to it as well.

Few years later, I found myself in touch with the Moroccan user group, and I've been a member of it since then, participating in edit-a-thons including WikiGap, HerStory and other IRL activities, what motivated me, and still does to this day, is seeing a healthy community of users in my home country, it's a great space to share knowledge, and a fun way to share personal interests with the world.

WikiArabia was the first step for me to meet people from other WM projects, other countries and cultures, I got a special interest in Wikipedia as a social movement, and I learned about the decision making process that will shape our platform feature, I think of my participation in Berlin as a way to learn more, but also help share our vision and defend everything we, as a Moroccan community, want to see in the upcoming years.

If I get this opportunity, I will work on a report to share with the summit, including all your ideas and concerns, and work closely with newfound partners on bringing more exposure to our projects, and a new mutual ground for theirs as you, members of the community, see fit.

This is why i'm calling you, dear colleagues, to support my candidature!

Best of luck to everyone.
