Wikimedia LGBT/Whistleblower policy
D R A F T
The Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group supports safe space policies and conduct policies in all communications, events and documents.
WMLGBT+ volunteers, contractors, and partners working with the user group have a shared responsibility for ensuring that our spaces and projects are free from unlawful conduct and financial wrongdoing. If anyone associated with WMLGBT+ receives a complaint covered by this whistleblower policy, or if you witness any conduct you believe may be covered by this policy, you are encouraged in good faith to report the complaint or conduct, and we encourage you to use the channels established in this policy.
The User Group is committed to cooperating with investigations of complaints by other organizations where this does not compromise safety or privacy expectations for volunteers or members.
Scope
editThis policy sets out the reporting procedures and whistleblower protections for complaints about potential legal violations and financial wrongdoing. It does not cover all types of complaints or misconduct, though the other policies that govern such complaints and misconduct also rigorously protect from retaliation those who make good faith reports/complaints.
This policy encourages good faith reporting of suspected illegal activity, or fraudulent, dishonest, or unethical misuse of resources or property under the management or direction of WMLGBT+. This policy protects the persons making good faith reports to the user group, or who use other reporting channels.
While this policy provides a reporting mechanism to alert the user group of any concerns, you may have additional reporting channels, including reporting directly to law enforcement. Nonetheless, we encourage you to file a report under this policy to ensure the user group can fully and properly investigate your concerns.
