2023年2月、日本のウィキメディアンEugene Ormandyは、トルコのユスキュダル大学にある Üsküdar University Wikipedia Student Clubを、Diffの記事「University student Wikipedian communities around the world」で紹介しました。2023年8月、Eugene Ormandyはトルコのウィキメディアンでイスタンブール・ビルギ大学ウィキペディア学生クラブの創設者 Canerと、ウィキマニア2023で出会い、意気投合しました。イベントの後、9月8日に彼らはこのプロジェクトを開始しました。
