Wikimedia Italia/Research

Wikimedia Italia implements research, to evaluate its impact and to support the planning and implementation of its projects. Research is not an objective of Wikimedia Italia; it is an activity implemented to support its objectives.

edit

Wikimedia Italia supports the implementation of research by:

  • collaborating with universities and research agencies
  • commissioning research specifically relevant for its work (i.e. research on governance, sustainability, Wikimedia brand in Italy)
  • including research components into its main projects, such as Wiki Loves Monuments
  • co-financing researchers and Ph.D.s working on relevant topics
  • supporting small research projects which facilitate the planning and implementation of new strategies and initiatives - through microgrants or grant for volunteers ("bando volontari")
  • supporting a prize for research (i.e. Prize for Open Knowledge done in collaboration with ICOM Italia)
  • supporting research grants (1 year, 4 months) for individuals affiliated to a university implementing research
  • producing, supporting or commissioning publications which disseminate research
  • implementing surveys
  • organising and supporting the organisation of conferences
