Wikimedia Georgia Strategic Plan/2024-2026
Wikimedia Community User Group Georgia (WMGE; Wikimedia UG Georgia) is a non-profit organization representing the Wikimedia Foundation User Group, created by active members of Wikimedia contributors living in Georgia who are interested in organizing and participating in outreach activities on a national level. The organization aims to promote and develop the Wikimedia Foundation's projects (Wikipedia, Wikidata, Commons, Wikisource, etc.) and the Wikimedia movement locally. One of its core missions is to aid and encourage people to collect, develop, and disseminate knowledge and other educational, cultural, and historical content in the public domain or other licenses that allow everyone to use the knowledge freely and distribute and modify it for free.
This strategic plan of WMGE is a vital tool for affiliation to set our course, adapt to change, allocate resources effectively, and achieve our long-term objectives. It provides a structured framework for decision-making and a clear vision for the future, which are essential for an organization's success and sustainability.
A strategic plan outlines the organization's long-term goals, mission, and vision. It provides a clear roadmap for where the WMGE is headed and what we hope to achieve. A strategic plan helps ensure that all levels of the organization are aligned with our objectives.
With a strategic plan in place, WMGE can allocate its resources (financial, human, and time) more efficiently. Strategic planning also involves identifying potential risks and challenges that may arise in the future. WMGE can develop strategies to mitigate or respond to these issues effectively by anticipating them.
We hope that with this strategic plan, Wikimedia UG Georgia will be able to fully implement the recommendations of the Movement Strategy and achieve the goals of these recommendations.
