Ideas discussed

Vetting of candidates, Selection Committee, Quotas and Voting system

  • Vetting of candidates

2 participants argued that candidates should have some expertise both as contributors but also professional expertises like management skills. They added that being at a leadership position as trustee requires a good understanding of the movement's functioning and challenges.

  • Selection Committee

A participant suggested that the selection committed could be delegated by the board. It added that members of the selected committee could be former board members and experienced contributors. He argued that voting a selected committee could make the process longer whereas the most important thing is the selection of board members.

  • Quotas

Participants are in favor of a regional representativity with a gender balance. A participant argued that Africa should be represented as it is the future of the movement.

  • Ranked voting system

A participant supported by another one said they are with the idea to move to a new voting system. He said they don’t have a clear idea of how the ranked voting system works but he is in favor of moving to a new voting system. He added that changing the voting system is not sufficient. Candidates expertises should be taken into account before the vote process.

  • Board functioning

A participant said that he doesn’t know how the board works. That he never heard about the board before these conversations.
