When to contact the press
When should I not reach out to the press?
First, read your local newspaper (choose some newspapers which are the most circulated in your area), and review some of the headlines. Are there major news stories which are likely to keep the press busy for several more days? Such as disasters, international events, national news stories, etc.
If so, try not to call the press, because they might not be interested in your story. They will likely ignore you or provide very little coverage. If it's urgent, try to call them during the off-hours. If it's not, try to call them in a day or two.
Note that the press and the journalists are very busy everyday.
