Myself a Tulu post graduate student and active member of Karavali Wikimedians user group(https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Karavali_Wikimedians), We have been making a lot of valuable contributions towards exploring various ways of utilising modern technologies for the benefit of local languages of our region. Our work are of great help for the student teacher and scholar communities alike. One of our latest programmes titled “Karawali Wikimedians to home” (https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Karavali_Wikimedians/Outreach_Program/Karavali_Wikimedians_to_Home,_Mangalore,_November_20,_2018,)- this new initiative to meet resource persons, is an initiation to create an awareness about Wikipedia policies, rules of editing and information about different Wiki-projects. The principal objectives of the programme are listed as
1.Discussions on Copyright policies of Books, Photographs, Video and audio. 2.Localization of Books. 3.How to educate the student - teacher for education programme. They all are resource persons and academician by profession including are former vice chancellor of University and g professors of reputed University like Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi , Kannada University Hampi, Mangalore University Mangalore.
Organizing Text-Performance-Documentation and Reconstruction of rare Folk Performing Arts.This is our second creative programme for preserving ancient culture by documenting. (https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Karavali_Wikimedians/Events/Sidda_Vesha) Coastal Karnataka has a rich oral literature and folk dances. They relate to the life and culture of the region and are inextricably linked with the tradition and culture of the region. They take us into a complex world of rituals, beliefs, practices, customs, traditions, and entertainment. Therefore, it is imperative to understand their meaning, nature, structure, and subject- matter in order to understand their function in a traditional Tuluva society. The rapid urbanization of the region and increase in literacy level among the rural populace seem to have had an impact on traditional Tulu culture, even as a part of that rich culture it is fading away and certain practices are undergoing modifications. Captioned folk dance, Sidda Vesha(Purusere Kattuna), is coming under the above mentioned category where the performance is in the night. This audio video and photographs resource for future academics and patronage by CIS- Bengaluru.
Incubator Tulu Wiktionary(Wt/tcy) developed is frequently sought after by students of Tulu , encouraging sign of extensive utilization in the future if the same is made live. With this i am encouraging tulu students especially graduation students.
