Educational programs
edit2021-09-15: Senior citizens write Wikipedia courses are open again
editThe autumn season of courses for seniors who want to write Wikipedia is opening again. This time we have a beginner's course in full-time format at the Central City Library (from 7 October) and an online course on the Google Meet platform (from 21 September). We are also planning an advanced course online. For more information and other announced courses, please visit seniori.wikimedia.cz in the Courses section.
2021-09-17: Czech-Polish cooperation: involving pupils in the Těšínsko WikiProject
editPupils from several schools in the Cieszyn Silesia region are going to improve Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia Poland and the Congress of Poles in the Czech Republic are behind the project, and Wikimedia Czech Republic has also joined in. On 17 September 2021, we organised an online training session for two bilingual classes from Třinec and Český Těšín, during which pupils learned how to edit Wikipedia. This will then be expanded during further activities and workshops, which we will be at again, this time physically. In the end, both Wikipedia and the pupils will be enriched as they learn to work with sources, verify information and create comprehensible text.
2021-09-19: Senior Citizens WikiTown 2021 in Týn nad Vltavou brought record participation
editSenior WikiTown 2021 is slowly coming to an end. This year, the fourth edition took place, this time with a record turnout (over 20 people!). We gathered in Týn nad Vltavou, South Bohemia, where enthusiastic participants and lecturers of the Seniors Write Wikipedia program were tasked with writing articles about local notable personalities, monuments and natural attractions. The participants not only wrote, but also took photos, videos and even managed to visit underground passages, the local lookout tower on Semenec and many other places. Many diverse articles and photos were produced, which you can see on the Programs & Event Dashboard (but there are many more to come).
The event was held under the auspices of the Vice-Mayor PhDr. Mgr. Martina Sudová and Councillor Ing. Zuzana Pouzarová, CSc. We thank all partners for their support, all participants and lecturers for their activity and enthusiasm. We look forward to the next editions!

edit2021-09-24: We have started a new GLAM collaboration
editA proposal for cooperation was passed by the Prague City Library Board. The head of the theatre and film department of the library, Dita Lánská, is coordinating the project on behalf of the institution. It is in this department that we will also begin our cooperation. Next we will proceed to the music department and the rare prints department. The aim of the cooperation is to release media files licensed as public domain and to organize thematic editathons.
