This year, for the first time, you could participate in Wikimedia Pages Wanting Photos (WPWP) 2023. WPWP is an international challenge that focuses on adding audiovisual content to Wikipedia articles. Another goal of this challenge is to increase the use of files on Wikimedia Commons.

As part of this challenge, almost 50 images were added to the articles on Czech Wikipedia.

Mojmír Churavý added the most pictures, KKDAII came in second and Tlaskalv in third. Although the challenge itself has ended, on the Czech page of WPWP you will still find thematically divided lists of articles that need to complete the picture!

2023-10-04: October WikiSchool: references, literature, links edit

What is Evening WikiSchool for seniors?
It is a series of regular, specialised workshops aimed mainly at seniors, especially graduates of the beginner (and advanced) Seniors Writing Wikipedia (SePW) courses.

What does Evening WikiSchool offer?
It offers the opportunity to focus on developing the specific skills that a good Wikipedian needs to do their job. We will focus on techniques and tweaks that can be used in editing practice that are not covered in detail in the Seniors Write Wikipedia courses.

In October, we'll return to an important topic that gives many Wikipedians frowns: references, links, citations, in short, sources (as well as literature). Wikipedia's principles are based on sourcing, i.e. references and citations. How to cite them correctly? How is a reference different from an external reference? How do you properly cite a print publication, a newspaper, an online resource, or even a documentary film? We will cover all these topics.

The online workshop - Evening Wikischool for Seniors: references, literature, links - will take place on Tuesday, 10 October 2023 from 17:00 to 18:30. You can register here, and find all the rest of the information and details here.

Do not hesitate with your application, the workshop has a limited capacity.

2023-10-28: Contest Czechoslovakia kicks off, participate and win a pair of socks edit

27 093 days! That is how long the period from the establishment of the first common state of Czechs and Slovaks to its final dissolution lasted. Terms such as the Washington Declaration, the Munich Dictate or Socialism with a Human Face are familiar to many of us. However, a large number of important Czechoslovak topics are still missing from the Czech Wikipedia.

Write an article or upload photos to take part in the Czechoslovakia Contest. We have book prizes for the ten winners, and the first 100 participants will get a pair of socks. To enter, just put #ceskoslovensko in the edit summary.

More information about the contest can be found on the event page.
