edit2023-06-01: June is Human Rights Month on Wikipedia. Get involved too!
editJune is dedicated to human rights on Wikipedia. Together with People in Need and Amnesty International, we invite volunteer Wikipedians, as well as everyone else, to write thematic articles. Come to the main event on 20 June in Prague and support the idea that everyone should have access to neutral and up-to-date human rights information. Full info here.
2023-06-05: The Photographing Libraries competition is over. 180 photos have been submitted
editOn 31 May 2023, the Photographing Libraries competition, which we launched together with the Union of Librarians and Information Workers of the Czech Republic and which was intended for all librarians and fans of libraries, photography and free content sharing, ended. In total, 180 photos have been submitted to the competition.
From the submitted photos, the organizers will now select the most successful images and publish them in the form of an album on the SKIP Facebook profile. Special awards will be given to the photos that receive the most likes. The competition will be evaluated in June 2023 during the Online Coffee with the SKIP President.
The winning photo will be displayed on the Media Literacy portal in July 2023. Thanks especially to Linda Jansová for the great idea for the contest and its precise implementation, and to all the participants!

2023-06-15: Wiki Loves Earth Czechia 2023 winning photos
editDuring May, it was possible to participate in the Wiki Loves Earth international photography competition for the first time ever. The three best photographers received prizes from the competition partner Zoner a.s. and the ten best photos advance to the international final. Who won? 2023-06-19: On 17 June, a community Wikiconference took place
editOn Saturday, June 17th, several dozen Wikipedians, members and staff of the Wikimedia Czech Republic met at Didaktikon in Prague for a community Wikiconference. Thanks to all of them for their participation. The Wikiconference took place after a three-year break and we all enjoyed it. A big thank you especially to all those who were involved in the organization and prepared an interesting program for others. The recordings of the lectures and discussions will be gradually published on our YouTube channel.
2023-06-21: Yesterday we edited articles about human rights. The challenge runs until June 30.
editOn 20 June, around 12 Wikipedians gathered at the Prague centre of People in Need Langhans and online to write articles on human rights issues. Some were editing articles for the very first time with the help of our tutors. For example, articles such as Consent, Apartheid Museum, abortion in Poland or Klára Kalibová were created on Czech Wikipedia. You can participate in the Human Rights Month challenge on Wikipedia until 30 June. Don't forget to put the hashtag #lidskaprava in the article summary.

edit2023-06-02: Prague Quadrienale opens its venue to a special Wikipedia workshop
editAt this year's Prague Quadrennial, a festival dedicated to scenography, performing arts and theatre space, there will be a special Women and minorities in Scenography Hands-On Editing Workshop. Despite its special focus, it is intended for anyone interested in deepening their skills in Wikipedia. This is part of Human Rights Month and will be conducted in English for the international PQ audience. The workshop will take place on Friday 9 June 2023 at 10:00 am at the DAMU. 2023-06-30: We ran a Wikipedia writing workshop for non-profits
editOn 22 June, as part of the Human Rights Month on Wikipedia, we held a workshop on writing Wikipedia for non-profits, which we offered to non-profits together with the Czech Fundraising Centre. Among the nonprofits that came to learn how to edit Wikipedia were ARNIKA and the PRAVDA O VODĚ Foundation. We believe that articles about the issues they deal with will enrich Wikipedia and allow hundreds of thousands of people to access important information. 2023-06-30: Wikipedia videos in 330 schools and 20 senior homes
editIn cooperation with Ámos vision we have prepared educational and entertaining videos for children and seniors. Wikimedia CR videos are now running on interactive boards in 330 schools and 20 senior homes. In total, children and seniors can learn more about how Wikipedia works in more than 180 cities in all regions of the Czech Republic. For most children, students and seniors, this is the first impulse to explore the collaborative online encyclopedia Wikipedia. Thank you Amos vision for a great collaboration!

edit2023-06-01: The National Library develops Wikipedia: on 9 June 2023 it will sign a memorandum with Wikimedia ČR
editThe National Library and Wikimedia ČR sign a memorandum on cooperation in the creation of Wikipedia, making the NK databases accessible via Wikidata, etc. The signing will take place on 9 June 2023 in Clementinum, Prague, together with the first official meeting of representatives of Wikimedia Europe - an international association of 26 Wikimedia affiliates. The event will be attended by Ondřej Profant, Deputy for Digitisation, Marcel Kolaja, Member of the European Parliament, and other guests. Read the full press release.
2023-06-13: We signed a memorandum with the National Library and hosted a Wikimedia Europe meeting
editOn Friday 9 June, the National Library hosted the opening of the General Assembly of the newly established Wikimedia Europe, which merges the advocacy activities of the European Wikimedia movement. On this occasion, a memorandum was signed with the National Library, which develops our cooperation in several ways. Ondřej Profant, Deputy Deputy Prime Minister for Digitisation, Ondřej Chrást, Deputy Minister of Culture, Marcel Kolaja, Member of the European Parliament and other distinguished guests spoke at the meeting.
