2021-06-07: MUNICIPAL MUSEUM OF BECHYNĚ PROVIDED DRAWINGS BY KAREL LIEBSCHER edit

The Bechyně Municipal Museum provided eighteen drawings by the prominent Czech painter and illustrator Karel Liebscher at Wikimedia Commons. The main topic of his work was important Czech monuments in the Central Bohemian region, the Czech landscape (for example Šumava) and later also foreign topics, such as the coast of Bosnia.

The drawings provided by the museum in Bechyně depict romanticizing scenes of Bechyně and its surroundings.Take a look!

2021-06-07: GLAM AT THE MUSEUM OF EASTERN BOHEMIA IN HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ CONTINUES edit

Lukáš Nekolný, a wiki-resident of the Museum of Eastern Bohemia in Hradec Králové, is already cooperating with individual departments of the museum and their curators to improve and expand the content of Wikipedia. Take a look at the edited page about the institution or at Lukáš's dashboard.

The employees of the museum are very satisfied with Lukáš's work and that is why we have now advanced to the next phase of cooperation, ie the selection of digitized materials, which we will provide at the Commons. The first media files we will upload to Commons will be selected from the Photography Collection. Specifically from the Hradecensia Subcollection and they will relate to Hradec Králové architecture.

2021-06-02: Let's meet at on-line 'afternoon tea' for teachers of Students write Wikipedia edit

We are planning an on-line event 'afternoon tea' for teachers from the project Students Write Wikipedia on 7 th June at 5 pm. There will be a presentation about news from Wikimedia Czech Republic, another presentation given by wikipedian and teacher Hugo about his successful work with students on Wikibooks and also general discussion about participating in the project. Every teacher or academic worker is welcome!

2021-06-07: On-line course Wikimedia Commons for seniors edit

The online course is an extension of the basic or advanced course Seniors write Wikipedia and are aimed directly at the Wikimedia Commons platform. The course takes place in two two-hour lessons, always on Tuesday 15 June and 22 June from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm under the lecturing of Jana Sekyrová (Anaj7). Online lessons will take place on the Zoom platform. As always, the course is free and is especially suitable for those who like to take photos and creating, and therefore have enough material to upload on Commons. At this point, the course is successfully fully booked with a long list of substitutes.

As part of fundraising, Wikimedia CZ is meeting many challenges that Michaela Buriánková has stood so far. However, the growing workload in PQ does not allow her to continue to hold the position, so she hands over her mission to Klára Odstrčilová.

2021-06-24: The last farewell to Prof. Jan Sokol, our honorary member, took place on 24 June edit

Professor Jan Sokol, a well-known Czech philosopher, wikipedian and honorary member of our chapter, died after a short illness in February this year. At that time, because of the coronavirus, a memorial service was held for only a small circle of the family. The last farewell and the placing of the urn in the family grave in the Břevnov cemetery took place on 24 June 2021 and was already attended by extended family and friends. We printed a book of condolences for the Professor's loved ones, with texts from the entire Czech Wikipedia community, which we presented to the family on this occasion. The Professor's loved ones were very grateful for this small gift. We also made a small photo report from the last farewell.
