2023-01-16: Add one reference on wikipedia and join the competition
edit1LIB1REF CAMPAIGN LAUNCHES!
Imagine a world where every librarian adds at least one reference to Wikipedia.
Like it? Come help us make this vision a reality!
How to do it? From 15 January - 5 February 2023, the 1lib1ref challenge will again be open to librarians around the world, but anyone can get involved!
The challenge is easy - add at least one Wikipedia reference! Any citation to a credible source will help Wikipedia readers around the world.
To be entered into the draw for Wikimedia-themed prizes, be sure to add relevant "hashtags" in your edit summary. How to do it? Fill in the edit summary, write e.g. "adding a reference", and add the hashtags #1Lib1Ref and #1Lib1RefCEE.
Why librarians? Who else but librarians are so well qualified to maintain the quality of citations on Wikipedia - they are experts in searching and providing information, and in their work they work every day with books and journals, which are invaluable sources of information for Wikipedia.
Need some advice? The challenge is also open to librarians who have no practical experience editing Wikipedia or who do not have their own account. We would recommend that you visit our regular Monday Wikiporadna where everything will be explained to you.
The bi-annual #1Lib1Ref campaign is run by the Wikimedia Foundation and supported by the Wikipedia Library Team and Wikimedia Affiliates worldwide. We also work closely with librarian communities locally and globally to promote the campaign.
