edit2023-04-04: The Photographing Libraries competition runs until 31 May 2023
editTake part in the Photographing Libraries competition, organised by Wikimedia ČR and the Association of Librarians and Information Workers of the Czech Republic.
The competition is open to all librarians and library enthusiasts who are interested in photography and sharing content freely. Photographs can be taken of the outside of library buildings in 2023. The ten most successful participants will receive a small prize.
The most successful photos will be posted on SKIP's Facebook profile and receive a special award for the most likes. The winning photo will be displayed on the Media Literacy portal in July 2023. After the contest, an online workshop will be held, to which participants will be invited, to enrich the photo data using categories on Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata and to attach photos to library entries in Wikidata. Submitted photos will be used by the Obálkyknih.cz project, which provides services for more than 6,000 libraries in the Czech Republic and the Knihovny.cz portal. Join and take part in this great competition!

2023-04-24: Thanks to the editathon at Czech Radio Brno, 80 articles were created and edited
editCzech Radio will celebrate its centenary this year. Eight Wikipedians from Moravia gathered on Saturday 15th April in its Brno branch, where they wrote, photographed and recorded as part of a thematic editathon supported by our Community minigrant.
They drew information and inspiration from the literature provided, as well as during guided tours of the building and meetings with the presenters and their guests. Ten new encyclopedic articles were created and about 70 others were edited, not only in the Czech Wikipedia but also in Esperanto - Brno Radio used to broadcast in this language in the past, and the Brno Esperantist Miroslav Malovec, who once founded the Czech Wikipedia by translating it from Esperanto, honoured the editathon with his participation.
Hundreds of photographs were taken of the interior, documents, people, as well as the view of Brno from the roof of the radio building. And because we were at the radio station, we also made the first ever Czech contributions to the international initiative Voice Intro Project - samples of the voices of prominent personalities. Soon you will be able to listen to the greeting of Borek Kapitanczyk in the Brno hantec on Wikipedia.

edit2023-04-19: Ministry of Culture supports project Open Collections
editProject Otevrene sbirky (Open Collections) mapping the state of digitization of cultural heritage in the Czech Republic has received a gift for its fourth realization in the form of the patronage of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
The project under the wings of Wikimedia Czech Republic thus strengthens its credibility and benefits for the general public on the one hand and for cultural institutions on the other.
The traditional partners of the project - UMPRUM, Arts&Antiques magazine and Artalk.cz portal - have also kindly shown their support.
Thanks to all of them, including the entire implementation team!
