Things I've learned at the conference

• As a person that love on taking picture so bad, i have attended the basic Commons Workshop during this beautiful Wikimania. A Wikimedia Commons session helped me comprehend the platform. Before Wikimania, I only knew how to upload, caption, and publish images on Wikimedia Commons. Then from this Wikimedia Commons workshop, it helped me understand picture submission rules and also made me studied Commons image upload policies.

• In addition to attending workshops, I gained insights into Singapore through the Wiki Loves Living Heritage Bazaar session. This session provided an overview of Singaporean culture to Wikimedians. In addition to exploring Singaporean culture, I had the privilege of attending a workshop on the topic of editing 'Amiwiki'.During the session, the presenters discussed the Paiwan language, an endangered Taiwanese ethnic language whose use is discouraged by government regulations. Each language must be preserved and practiced to prevent its extinction. If no endeavors are made to promote and preserve our Bajau Samah language for example, it may become extinct. And i am pleased to be a part of a Wiki endeavor that serves as an efficient platform for preventing the loss of my home language, and I consider it a privilege to be able to participate in this effort.

• During my participation in the Wikipedia Basic Workshop, I gained proficiency in the skill of producing articles using the Simple English language. During the workshop, participants were instructed on the techniques for composing an English article that may serve as a model for generating articles in the Bajau Samah language within the context of the Wiki project. I had already acquired the knowledge imparted by this workshop; nonetheless, my intention in participating was to further enhance my comprehension as a member of the Bajau Samah Community User group. During the session, I engaged in the process of crafting an article centered on Sentosa Island, exhibiting a strong sense of enthusiasm towards the prospect of acquiring skills in article composition and expanding my understanding of Singapore.

• The relevance of Wiki projects in conserving and promoting local languages has been underscored via interactions with other Wikimedians. By engaging in discussions and sharing personal anecdotes, I acquired insights into several Wiki initiatives, such as WikiVoyage and translatewiki, which were previously foreign to me. These debates have enhanced my comprehension of subjects such as Wikis, facilitating a more profound level of information acquisition.

And those experience at Wikimania Singapore 2023 is amazing and so much increasing my ability especially on motivating others for furher contribution with Wikimedia.

- WIKIPEDIA BASIC WORKSHOP

I arrived for the workshop at 10 in the morning and stayed till 1:15 in the afternoon that was held in room 310. During the course of this session, I was instructed on how to compose articles in English relating to the Sentosa Island. My participation in this workshop allowed me to obtain information that will allow me to develop articles in the Bajau Samah language in the future, as well as possibilities to translate articles into Bajau Samah from other languages for use on Wikipedia Incubator.

- WIKIMEDIA COMMONS BASIC WORKSHOP

This class was held in room 310, and I went there from 2:15 and 4:25 in the evening. During this class, I gained knowledge on a variety of topics, including how to write descriptions for uploaded photographs, how to create categories, how to study regulations about uploaded images, and more.

- WIKIMANIA 2023 OPENING RECEPTION & WIKIMEDIAN OF THE YEAR

Between the hours of 5 to 6:25 in the evening, I was present in the plenary hall for the opening ceremonial event. over this session, the announcement of the Wikimedian of the Year award will be made. This honor will be given to the Wikimedian who made the most significant contribution over the previous year. And during this ceremony, we have used our radiional costume and people love it so much.

- WIKI LOVES LIVING HERITAGE BAZAAR

The Plenary Hall was the location of this meeting, which took place between 10:40 and 11 in the morning. The culture of Singapore as well as their heritage development strategy for the future was going to be the focus of this session's efforts to promote it.

- HOW TO EDIT 'AMIWIKI'

Between the hours of 12:25 and 12:45 in the afternoon, in room 3.25 for this session. The presenters from Taiwan brought up the Paiwan language during this discussion. The Paiwan language is one of the minority languages spoken in Taiwan, but it is in danger of dying out as a result of laws imposed by the government that discourage its usage among the general population. Prior to the conclusion of the meeting, they also performed some of their traditional songs and dances.

- WIKIMANIA 2023 GLOBAL GROUP PHOTO

The Plenary Hall served as the location for the Global Group Photo, which was shot between 4:45 to 5:00 in the evening. During this period, I had the opportunity to meet other Wikimedians from a variety of countries and snap photographs with them.

- INAUGURATION OF WIKI KENT CLUB

Between 9 to 10 AM, this gathering will serve as the official launch of the Wiki Kent Club. by the Director of the KENT Campus Teacher Education Institute, presided over the ceremony that marked the beginning of the Wiki Kent Club.

Amazing session that made us enjoy our time with other Wikimanians.

- SAZAU BY WIKEINT AND MANUK LEMBUKUN DANCES FROM BORNEO

In this session, 8 people from IPG KENT Campus and 3 of us had the chance to show other Wikimania players four types of traditional dances from the Sabah community. From 1:40 to 1:55, this meeting takes place in the Plenary Hall. And at the Manuk Lembukun Dance session, we can happily wear our traditional dress and dance with other Wikimedians.

- REBRANDING WIKIMEDIA: WIKIMEDIA FOR COSPLAY AND ACG WORLD

This workshop also takes place in the Plenary Hall from 1:55 to 2:10 p.m. and is led by Mr. Dody Ismoyo, the President of Wikimedia Malaysia. He talked about Cosplay-related Wikimedia projects that he had worked on more than once. He also talked about cosplay-related Wikimedia projects, since he is a fan of cosplay himself.

- WIKIMANIA 2023 DINNER AND DANCE

The last evening event was a Gardens by the Bay dinner and dancing. There, Wikimania 2023 participants had their last meal. We saw Singapore's 58th Birthday Flower Show. After that, we continued the dance party at the event venue to bond with other Wikimedians and make new acquaintances.

Plans after the conference (from what was learned or contributed in the conference)

• Continue editing and contributing to the Wikimedia projects like Wiktionary, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikimedia Incubator. Especially to my Traditional language, Bajau Sama language.
• Focus on documenting the Bajau Samah language and culture through Wikimedia projects.
• Try to explore opportunities to collaborate with the broader Wikimedia community.
• Open to sharing the knowledge that I learned from the conference with other people.
• Educate others about Wikimedia projects and encourage newcomers to get involved.
• Try on introducing Wikipedia to My University.

Comments/ suggestions about the conference

Its the greatest event i have ever had, and my suggestion is, may the number participants will be increase after this, because i would love to see the diversity among us, and this kind of event just doing its job very well, & I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!
