Journal on Meta/About
What is the purpose of the Journal on Meta? ?
editThe Journal on Meta, or JoM,, has the task to inform about the Wikimedia Movement and especially its entitites: the chapters, the thematic organizations and Wikimedia user groups, but also the Wikimedia Foundation and Wikimedia projects as far as the subject is relevant for the movement.
Who can contribute to the Journal?
editAnyone. Please use a signature in the way you see it below a contribution.
Is the Journal neutral or encyclopedic?
editIt is not. But anyone who contributes should consider the following before posting:
- Is your subject relevant or interesting enough for people outside your organization, or outside your initiative or project? For example, can others learn from it?
- You may be a part of a discussion, but are you reporting about a conflict that goes only between you and someone else?
- Can others understand what you are writing about; does your contribution contains insider jokes only for a small group?
- Do you represent an opinion that is solely yours, your can you imagine that you are e.g. raising concerns that are shared or could be shared by others? Can your contribution be reasonably understood as an insult to others?
When is the deadline for the next Journal?
editThere isn't. You can post at any time. Every month, the content goes to an archive page.
Left column, right column, what is it good for?
editThe left column contains larger contributions, the right column shorter. New contributions go to the top of the column.
Can I change a contribution, or discuss it?
editYou can both. If you see a linguistic or factual or formatting error, feel free to copyedit, and if the original author disagrees, he or she can revert the change. If you would like to add something, maybe an up-date, please add it in small letters after (below) the contribution.
The JoM page has a talk page, to discuss about the JoM but also about single contributions.
