"European Language Equality" (ELE) is an European Commission project that is aiming to address the challenge that not all 24 official EU languages or the regional and minority languages in Europe have the same digital support. 52 partners from the language technology community are preparing a convincing agenda and roadmap on how to get there by 2030. We tried to include the perspective of the Wikimedia movement with a survey.
In the first part of the discussion, I want to discuss those results of the project with the language and Wikimedia communities from Central and Eastern Europe. In the second part of the discussion we will talk about challenges and problems the CEE communities face when working with language technologies in their respective languages and what could help overcoming those challenges.
- How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region of Central and Eastern Europe?
The results from the discussion will be part of the input Wikimedia is providing for the agenda and roadmap we want to present to the European Union at the end of the project in the hopes of influencing European policies.
- Do you plan to pre-record a video with a presentation?
