Abstract: In October 2023 a Greek and a Chilean Wikimedian brang Wiki for Minorities to life. It is a new project, whose target is to promote the presence of minorities in Wikimedia. This minorities can be sexual minorities, religious minorities or ethnolinguistic minorities. The scope of the presentation is to present the group and its activities in CEE and beyond. How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region of CEE? The attendees would benefit in various means. At first, they will take useful knowledge in order to advance collaborations with organisations that represent people with disabilities, thus incorporating an underrepresented group in the movement. It also intends to show the outcomes of the diaspora project in Greece and the benefits that can come by engaging diaspora communities inside a Wikimedia community, given that we found that diaspora, often large in CEE, is largely absent from the community. We will also present the need to document and enrich Wikimedia projects through uploading minorities-related objects in Commons, a field we also have invested in. The presentation intends to show the importance of engaging minorities in Wikimedia, which can help promote international collaboration between CEE communities.
