Abstract
editLinked data is a concept that is extremely familiar to libraries, as their catalogs have always attempted to group similar data using cataloging and indexing standards over time. Technological advances in open linked data offer a wide range of opportunities for libraries to both improve their own data and to be promoted as organizations. This paper aims to present a project, which started with the ultimate goal of enriching Wikidata with data in Greek. In Greek libraries' catalogs non-Greek personal names are not commonly linked with a version of them written in Greek. Also, both in Greece and internationally, the use of the concept of equivalence for such data using the 7xx fields of MARC21 is not a common practice, although this possibility is provided. One of the rare cases where this is found, is the catalog of the Municipal Library of Keratsini - Drapetsona, which has partly implemented this connection in its collection. Considering that in a globalized environment the preservation of national identity and language is very important, its link with international data as implemented through Wikidata seems to be an appropriate way. The main purpose of this paper is to examine the specific issues of equivalence of the terms of authorized names (issues of transliteration of non-Greek names into the Greek alphabet, phonetic rendering, and historical (traditional) spelling) and describe how to work in order to match the Personal Name Authority Records from the Municipal Library of Keratsini - Drapetsona catalog, with those of other libraries, utilizing, among others, the Virtual International Authority File (VIAF), since its richness of structured linked data facilitated the intended matching. Finally, the problems that may arise will be discussed and possible solutions that can lead to the establishment of a single national standard will be proposed.
Expected outcomes
editMore librarians from countries that use non-roman languages are intrigued to edit their catalog data in order to enrich Wikidata with reliable data, support the representation of one's language on the web and, on the same time, enrich with semantic data their own catalogs.

Specific requirements
editThe presentation is a *.pptx file and includes a short video from youtube, so internet access and a projector are important. I would also like to know if I could connect my laptop to the projector.
