  • Mailing list set up for Wikibase.cloud - link above
  • User group reports for 2021 have been started. More help is needed from people who have interesting things and links to add, e.g. summaries of what happened in the previous year
  • Link to Telegram group: https://t.me/+WBsf9-C9KPuMZCDT
  • Docker and Wikibase.cloud will be maintained each with individual product managers, and WBStack will be sunsetted at some point in the future.
  • WBStack is on 1.35 while Wikibase.cloud will (currently) be on 1.37. All to be announced on the mailing list.
  • Product at launch will be fairly minimal in terms of features beyond WBStack+1.37, beyond that product managers will prioritize.
  • There will be Docker releases this year, dates not yet confirmed, probably Security release April, Spring release (1.37?) June-July + another security release at the end of the year.
    • Question about releases feature decisions, breaking changes and how that is managed
      • Regular releases based on MediaWiki main version releases (but usually a fair bit later)
    • WMDE also has a roadmap, which is still being worked on for this year, probably shared first week of April
      • This year a lot of WMDE time will be focused on Wikibase.cloud (throughout to the end of the year)
      • Focus on tools and extensions aligned with that, as well as Fed Props 2.
      • Collaborative work with GND and NDFI for development tools, also second quarter, and research
      • WMDE hiring new engineers over the past few months but can't give details on numbers (as a personal matter) "2 is too small, not up to 20" ;-)
  • ARM64 is also available on 1.36 now having been update by the community member who was doing it (JM F)
  • Why do people use Wikibase in comparison to other alternatives? Some of you may have interesting perspectives to share on that - check the survey link above (and let WMDE know if you have questions).
  • Ecosystem enablement: Making it easier for outsiders to do dev work, undecided as to what that looks like, maybe workshops or forum where people can ask questions and WMDE can shed light, but still up in the air - resources have been allocated to that specific topic (for the second quarter of the year to the end).
