Wiki for Minorities/Disabili-Ties Programme/Visibilizing Disabilities in Nigeria

The Visibilizing Blindness in Nigeria is a project within the Wiki for Minorities (WfMin) programme aimed at expanding the existing content in Wikimedia projects about people with disabilities (PWD) in Nigeria.

By creating articles, searching for information and taking photographs, users want to raise awareness about the challenges presented by people who suffer from some type of any kind of disability within the Nigerian territory. For expamle, according to reports from 2023, there are more than one million blind people in Nigeria, in addition to the around 7 million who suffer from some visual impairment.

Activities will take place throughout the year and may be online, in-person and hybrid. The work areas are mainly Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata.
