Examples of projects around WH sites: MedinaStories, WikiKsour, MedinaPedia, Told Cities.

  • Potential activities

Thematic projects following the different categories of World Heritage, and capacity building workshops for members and partners.

Discussion edit

Governance edit

Participants agreed on the board model and elections process proposed by the co-founders.

  • Kayusyussuf: Who is able to vote on the elections?
    • Yamen: All supporters to the group who are already listed before this meeting, can submit their candidacy and vote.
  • Csisc: Role of each member, how to assign functions?
    • Nassima Chahboun: Once the board members are elected, roles will be assigned based on objective criteria.

Communication edit

  • Deborahjay: The official communication channel is Meta and subpages of the project page.
  • Dyolf77: We may create a website to reach people outside the Wiki.
  • Marajozkee: Holding 2 meetings monthly instead of one, to adapt with different time zones.

Diversity edit

  • Moumou82: Translation of the Meta pages because not everyone is comfortable in English.
    • Yamen: We need to translate all pages to the 6 official UNESCO languages at least.
    • Avicenno: can be in charge of translation to Arabic.
  • Marajozkee: What about geographical representation of the elected members?
    • Besides the board, there will be regional groups of work and liaisons.

Activities edit

  • Mazuritz: Future plans for the group, projects? especially in relation with the movement regular activities (mois international de la contribution francophone for instance).
    • Nassima Chahboun: Thematic projects that include different activities, such as edit-a-thons and photography campaigns. Priority will be given to World Heritage framework (articles about World Heritage convention, World Heritage Centre, etc.) and to World Heritage Sites on the Danger list.
    • Yamen: Create a calendar on Meta with key dates and events related to Wikimedia movement and to World Heritage (e.g. mois de la contribution francophone, World Heritage Day)
  • Marajozkee: Will the sites that are not included in World Heritage list be included? How to document sites? For funding, how it will work? Is it possible for members to apply for rapid grants?
    • Nassima Chahboun: Sites on indicative lists will be documented too. As to funding, in case a member or local partner is not able to receive a grant, Wiki Heritage can ensure fiscal sponsorship.
    • Yamen: for funding if the activity/project has not been included and funded by the group annual program grant, it will be possible for a member to apply for a rapid grant and the group will endorse it. If a fiscal sponsor is needed, the group can help on that.
  • Deborahjay: For capacity building workshops, include a question in the skills assessment form about what do members want to learn.
