  • To participate, you must be a registered user on one of the Wikimedia platforms;
  • The article must have been written or improved between July 17 and September 22, 2024;
  • The article can be written in any Wikipedia language;
  • To be considered valid, the articles created must have at least 3000 bytes;
  • The articles must have reliable sources
  • The articles must respect the copyright
  • Articles whose content is based only on lists or templates are not considered;
  • To be able to compete for the prizes the user must write at least 5 articles.

Points

Any participant is responsible to score the own points awarded by each article.

The contest is based on the KISS principle, you earn points for writing, translating or improving articles in any language. The final goal for each participant is to get as many points as possible. Pages consisting of lists are not considered in scoring. Each user is responsible for calculate the own score.

Point calculation:

  • + 1 point if is a new article with at least 3000 bytes.
  • + 1 point for every 1,000 bytes of added content after the basic 3000 bytes in the case of a new entry, or 1000 bytes that improve any entry already written, provided that the added content causes the entry to have at least 3 kb, no longer being a stub, no longer have warnings of any kind (lack of sources, templates, non-wikified entries, etc.). Lists are not taken into consideration.
  • + 1 point if the article is about a woman or a non-binary person.
  • + 1 point if the article is about para athletes (Paralympic athletes, championships and teams of para athletes).

Prizes

The scoring and ranking will be made public between 15 and 22 October, 2024. The prizes - given in gift cards - will be distributed at most 1 week after receiving a valid email address and other basic informations needed for the delivery digital voucher.

Wikimedia Switzerland (WMCH) accepted a the Wiki Loves Sport 2024: Covering diversity in the Olympic and Paralympic Games grant request and generously provided these international prizes (the distribution is based on the total number of points accumulated by the participant):

  • 1st prize: 100€
  • 2nd prize: 75€
  • 3rd prize: 50€
  • 4th, 5th and 6th prize: 25€ each one.
