Research trip

edit

During this step, the students go on a research trip to a gallery, library, archive, or museum (GLAM) to find their sources. Depending on the region you live in, some GLAMs are more suitable than others.

The research trip can serve multiple purposes depending on the type of GLAM and the available resources. It is suggested to ask the GLAM to select and provide sources on the women the students are writing about. Then upon visiting the GLAM, the students can practice putting their research skills into practice to find the relevant information. Another example of a way to interact with a GLAM is the students receiving a tour that explains how they can find information there themselves.

In this step of the student materials, the communication between the teacher and the GLAM is key. Please find the Schools and the GLAMs toolkit in the WikiWomen materials for more information on how to work with the WikiWomen materials in this regard.
