The official language of Hungary is Hungarian, mother tongue of 93.6% population in that country. The other languages used in Hungary are Indo-European languagessuch as German, Slovak, Serbian, Slovene, Croatian, Romanian, and Romani. The internet penetration in Hungary is 65.27% or 6,522,000 people having internet connection in 2010.

According to Alexa, Wikipedia is one of the most popular sites in Hungary, ranked 9th in December 2011.[2] Hungarian language Wikipedia ranked 19th out of 280 wikipedias in the world.[3] In December 2011, there were 2,160 women of all ages from Hungary who were interested in Wikipedia on Facebook.[4] On English Wikipedia's Women's History Wikiproject, the most popular November 2011 article about a Hungarian woman was Elizabeth Báthory, ranked 100th overall with 80108 views during the month. There are 6 articles about women's basketball teams in this country on French Wikipedia.

In December 2011, according to Alexa, Wikibooks was ranked the 1,848th most popular site in the country.[5]
There are no female administrators on English wikinews from this country, nor are there any women from this country who are English wikinews accredited reporters. A December 2011 search on English Wikinews for Women Hungary found 10 articles that mentioned both words.[6] A December 2011 search on Spanish Wikinews for Hungría mujeres found 0 articles that mentioned both words.[7]
There are no women from this country involved in leadership roles on English or German Wikiversity. Their participation is minimal to non-existent.

- Women in Hungary
During World War I, Hungarian women were having expanded political opportunities and gaining attention and support in a very traditional role, as mothers and caretakers of children. In 1941, women's group began to diverge further. During communist era, women received greater access to education and works, and were also seen as vital part of state, as mothers and wives. After communist era (1989), women's and feminist groups formed strong organizations which have worked to address movement for women's equality.

During the December 2011 fundraising appeal, no Hungarians, men or women, were featured are part of the appeal. During the 2011 Summer of Research, the WMF hired eight research fellows. Of these, only one was female, and she was from the United States. There were four males from American universities, The other researchers included men from a Japanese university, a Swiss university and a Canadian university. There were no research fellows, male or female, from this country.
