Greek Wikipedia ranked 49th out of 280 Wikipedias in the world.[1] Wikipedia is one of the most popular sites in Greece, ranked 8th in December 2011 according to Alexa.[www.alexa.com/topsites/countries/GR] In December 2011, there were 3,260 women of all ages from Greece who were interested in Wikipedia on Facebook.[2] There are 2 articles about women's basketball teams in this country on English Wikipedia. There are 4 articles about women's basketball teams in this country on French Wikipedia. There are 43 articles about models from this country on English Wikipedia In the period between November 2010 and October 2011, 41,9% of the traffic to Pontic Wikipedia was from this country.[3] In December 2011, elections were held for English Wikipedia's Arbitration Committee. No women from this country ran for Arbitration Committee and there are currently no women from this country on the Arbitration Committee. On Turkish Wikipedia, there is 1 category about women from this country.[4] On Aragonese Wikipedia, there is 1 article about female actors from this country.[5]

Wikiversity, Wikinews, Wikisource, Other projects

In December 2011, Wikiversity was ranked the 11,091th most popular site in the country.[6] There are no women from this country involved in leadership roles on English or German Wikiversity. Their participation is minimal to non-existent.

There are no female administrators on English wikinews from this country, nor are there any women from this country who are English wikinews accredited reporters. On Portuguese Wikinews, there are no women active from this country. This may be a result of several factors, including the language and because Portuguese Wikinews only has an active editing community of five people, one of whom is a woman. A December 2011 search on Spanish Wikinews for Grecia mujeres found 6 articles that mentioned both words.[7]

On English Wikisource, there are no female bureaucrats from this country.[8]

There is 8 men and 0 women on the language incubator who are use Greece as their native language.[9]

The Foundation

During the 2011 Summer of Research, the WMF hired eight research fellows. Of these, only one was female, and she was from the United States. There were four males from American universities, The other researchers included men from a Japanese university, a Swiss university and a Canadian university. There were no research fellows, male or female, from this country. During the December 2011 fundraising appeal, no Greeks, men or women, were featured are part of the appeal.
