Wikimedia Deutschland has several women on their board, including Delphine Ménard who is their treasurer and Anja Ebersbach. The chapter also has a number of female staff members including Project Manager Angelika Adam, Catrin Schoneville (Spoke person for WMDE), Elly Köpf (Project Manager - WMDE), Elvira Schmidt (Project Manager - WMDE), Julia Kloppenburg (Office Assistant - WMDE) and Nicole Ebber (Project Manager - WMDE).

In December 2011, there were 10,280 women of all ages from Germany who were interested in Wikipedia on Facebook.[1] In December 2011, according to Alexa, Wikipedia was ranked the 7th most popular site in the country.[2] In the period between November 2010 and October 2011, 79.9% of the traffic to German Wikipedia was from this country.[3] In the period between November 2010 and October 2011, 1.1% of the traffic to Russian Wikipedia was from this country.[4] There are 0 articles about women's basketball teams in this country on English Wikipedia. On English Wikipedia's Women's History Wikiproject, the most popular November 2011 article about a German woman was Eva Braun, ranked 62nd overall with 108145 views during the month. On English Wikipedia, there are 2 articles about roller derby leagues from this country. There are 5 articles about women's basketball teams in this country on French Wikipedia. There are 6 categories and 33 articles about women's association football clubs in this country on English Wikipedia. There are 2 articles about women's association football clubs in this country on Russian Wikipedia. There are 54 articles about models from this country on English Wikipedia. On Spanish Wikipedia, there are 25 articles about models from this country. In December 2011, elections were held for English Wikipedia's Arbitration Committee. No women from this country ran for Arbitration Committee and there are currently no women from this country on the Arbitration Committee. On Turkish Wikipedia, there are 13 articles and 1 category about women from this country.[5] On Aragonese Wikipedia, there are 11 articles about female actors from this country.[6] On Slovak Wikipedia, there are 3 articles about female actors from this country. [7] On 1 February 2012, the English language article about Germany women's national football team appeared on Wikipedia's main page as a featured article.[8]

Susianna Kentikian is an English Wikipedia Featured Article about an Armenian/German female boxer. This status is the highest assessment type on English Wikipedia.

Wikinews

A December 2011 search on English Wikinews for Women Germany found 78 articles that mentioned both words.[9] A December 2011 search on Spanish Wikinews for Alemania mujeres found 11 articles that mentioned both words.[10] In December 2011, according to Alexa, Wikinews was ranked the 31,396th most popular site in the country.[11] On Portuguese Wikinews, there are no women active from this country. This may be a result of several factors, including the language and because Portuguese Wikinews only has an active editing community of five people, one of whom is a woman.

Wikiversity

In December 2011, Wikiversity was ranked the 26,438th most popular site in the country.[12] There was a German woman who was highly active on English Wikiversity for a while. She has subsequently retired from the project. A German instructor used Germany Wikiversity for a a class and this brought in a number of female contributors to the project as a result.

Wikisource

On English Wikisource, there are no female bureaucrats from this country.[13]

In December 2011, according to Alexa, Wikibooks was ranked the 1,135th most popular site in the country.[14]

Other projects

There are a 2 woman active on the language incubator who use German. One has made 3 edits and the other has made 1 edit. This compares to 27 male German contributors. There is 1 man and 0 women on the language incubator who use North Frisian as their native language on the project.[15] There is at least one male bureaucrat from Germany on MediaWiki.Org. There does not appear to be a German female who holds a similar position.[16]

Commons

On Commons 16.46% users indicated they're female. The most popular interface language after English is Spanish with 108166 users. With a large gap, French is 2nd with 46961 users and German 3rd with 35982 users. The large population of Spanish users on Commons is probably the result of local uploads on Spanish Wikipedia being disabled. There are 7 categories and 2 pictures of women's association football and 0 pictures of the women's national cricket team.

The 2011 Fundraiser

During the December 2011 fundraising appeal, no Germans, men or women, were featured are part of the appeal. During the 2011 Summer of Research, the WMF hired eight research fellows. Of these, only one was female, and she was from the United States. There were four males from American universities, The other researchers included men from a Japanese university, a Swiss university and a Canadian university. There were no research fellows, male or female, from this country.

The German chapter ran several appeals featuring German women, including prominent long-time Wikipedian Alice Wiegand aka User:Lyzzy, Katrin "Kadda" Rönicke, feminist net activist and blogger and Wikipedia Donor Corinna Tiedke.
