WikiWomen/Mangaluru/Content translation workshops 2023

Gender gap in Wikimedia projects is a known issue. At present it is between 16-20%. Not only there are less number of women active participants but also the articles related to women are less compared to the articles related to men. More details are available on wikimediafoundation.org/news. Hence Wikiwomen Mangaluru aims to work towards bridging the gender gap in Wikimedia projects. Many meetups and editathons under the ages of Wikiwomen/Mangaluru were conducted earlier. Now it is planned to organise a series of content translation workshops.

The project is designed to bring in more content related to women as well as bring more women editors to the Wikimedia movement in India. There is huge content related to women in English Wikipedia. By way of organising content translation workshops, we are aiming to bring in more such content into Kannada Wikipedia. In this endevour, male editors also will join us.

Goals

1. Bring awareness regarding the usage of Content translation tool available on Wikipedia
2. Organise a series of content translation workshops at 6 different places in Karnataka
3. Recruit new editors of diverse nature, with emphasis on female editors
4. Translate articles related to women
