WikiLinguila had the honor of being invited by the International Republican Institute (IRI), MONUSCO, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), and USAID to share our experiences during the WikiGap campaign workshop. This initiative, organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden, aims to promote Congolese women in both our national and foreign languages.

During the three phases of the electoral cycle—pre-electoral, electoral, and post-electoral—we carried out actions to value and support Congolese women. On this occasion, we presented a learning model designed to help future women leaders understand and engage in our work on their behalf and on behalf of minorities.

We also took this opportunity to introduce WikiNkento, a new concept and working group supported by WikiLinguila to promote activities related to women on Wikimedia projects in the official national languages of Central Africa. This project aims to encourage gender diversity and balance gender representation among decision-makers in leadership positions.

This exchange, focused on the overarching theme “Local Elections: Qualitative Participation of Women for Inclusive Decentralization,” was extremely fruitful. We discussed best practices and effective strategies to encourage quality female participation in the decentralization process.

We warmly thank our partners and all participants for this opportunity to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable future for Congolese women. Together, we will continue to work to strengthen the role of women in society and in decision-making processes.
