Day 3:
Connections made
editI made connections with a number of presenters mainly because I hosted a number of sessions during the WikiIndaba, honorary mentions amng these are Eben Mlay of Tanzania, Derrick Ndahiro of Rwanda. I also made other connections through the speed networking such as Beatrice kaseke a Librarian from zimbabwe, Martin from Namibia; I have continued interacting with these connections beyond the conference time.
Learning points
editI learned a number of things namely;
- How to work and thrive through pressure, a time came during the planning season where we held late night meetings which I had never done before coupled with family emergencies. I learned how t navigate such challenges and be able to deliver to my best self.
- There is always help out there if you are not afraid t ask, an example was the initial preconference session where Veronica explained in detail the number of resources and funding opportunities available t different categries f individuals and how one can apply to these, it was a revelation to me.
- Working in teams solves tasks that may perharps look to great for one individual.
Outcome
editWith the gained experience and knowledge I am loking forward to engaging more with the general Wikimedia cmmunity and contributributing whener I'm called upon to serve and share experiences. I am planning to apply for some grants especially in the Open access arm of Wikimedia, engage into physical meetups with the local Wikimedia usergroup, organise learning sessions fr those who're new to the movement.
