Speakers : Samuel Guebo Time block: Friday 5 November 2021 Start : 14:20
Location : Room D Duration : 25 minutes
Description :

Because Wikimedians spend a great deal of their time online, they may face privacy risks: including identity theft, online tracking, disclosure of personal information, among other things. Furthermore, event organizers often collect sensitive information about volunteers such as their full name, email address, phone number, in order to organize their activity. While such information is generally essential to hold events, it also puts volunteers at risk, since ill-intentioned actors can exploit this sensitive data collected by event organizers.

At the end of the session, participants will understand common privacy threats Wikimedians can face and learn some best practices to safeguard their privacy. Additionally, event organizers will get some specific guidelines for organizing events in a privacy-preserving manner.
