WikiIndaba Conference 2019

My Input

I did not give any speech or presentation but I was part of the registration team in the Day1 of the conference. I also participated with some ideas in Digital Security for Wikimedians.

Participant Connections

As a first time participant to not just WikiIndaba but first time participant to any wikimedia conference, it was a huge opportunity for me to connect with Wikimedians accross the continent. Some of the amazing people i met are:

• Sami Mlouhi from Tunisia
• Eugene233 from Cameroon
• Imanga Kayama from Wakanda Zambia

Infact this is only to mention a few as everyone present in the conference were really awesome and amazing.A Big Thank you to the WikiFoundation for bringing this years wikiIndaba to my doorstep.

Outcomes

I was truly inspired by the energy we have in the African community. I learnt so much from the conference especially about wikidata.

• Learnt what wikidata is all about.
• How to do some Query in Wikidata with SPARQL.
• How to use some tools to add content into Wikidata such as Creddle, Tabernacle, etc. all thanks to an amazing tutor in the person of Asaf (WMF) who was in charge of the Wikidata workshop in the conference.

The Wikiindaba was very well organized. It was a delightful experiences. now i'm really looking forward to the next WikiIndaba. Thank you, Team Nigeria!
