Abstract:
A lot of Wikimedians have brilliant project ideas that would be so beneficial to the Wikimedia community, but are often limited. Having reviewed hundreds of projects in the last one year as part of the grant committee for the Wikimedia User Group Nigeria Grant Committee, I'll be teaching conference participants on how to write a proper grants, the requirements, the common errors that cause grants to be rejected such as lack of endorsement by co facilitators, inability to properly define the aim of the project and what benefit it seek to add to those to participants, having cofacilitators who are currently working on (multiple) other projects, inability to clearly define budget etc This is enable them a proper and convincing grants to help find their projects. |

How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region?
• To teach participants the importance of grants in carrying out Wikimedia Projects, especiallywhrn personal finances will not be enough to sponsor the project • To correct common errors people make while writing grants • To help improve grant writing skills of those who are already familiar with writing grants. |
