Abstract:
Africa is a continent of immense cultural diversity, rich traditions, and a wealth of artistic expressions. However, there is a significant gap in the representation of African cultural heritage on platforms like Wikimedia. By actively promoting African cultural heritage such as Nok Culture, Ndengdeng Cultural dance on Wikimedia, we can ensure its preservation, celebrate its diversity, and provide a global platform for sharing and appreciating the richness of Africa's cultural tapestry.

How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region?
The following are the outcomes estimated from the presentation
1. Awareness creation of Open Access:
There is need for early civilization treasures such as the Nok culture to be brought to public awareness by writing more about it on Wikipedia and other sister's platform.
2. Documenting tourist attraction sites on Wikivoyage:
Nigeria is a country with many attractive sites like the National Museum of Jos, Ogbunike Cave, Ngwo Pire Forest, Awhum Waterfall, Ikogosi Warm Spring, the millennium Park Abuja and the Ibeno Beach hence their presence on the travel guide will increase their visiblity on the global space thereby promoting Africa on the large scale. This will further enable travellers to respect and be mindful of places they visit leading to a more sustainable tourism.
3. Collaboration between local communities and wikimedia editors:
As a diverse country with rich cultural heritage, the local authorities within Nigeria can tell the history of the some cultural heritage better by relating them to some active wikimedians who will in turn document the history on Wikipedia as a form of visibility and knowledge dissemination. The collaboration will also ensure that valuable information and knowledge are not lost over time.
