Description

I am writing to submit a proposal on behalf of Yobe Connect Wikimedia User Group. In line with Name of the organization and hosting of the Wikiindaba 2023 In-person Event. We are very happy and excited to express our interest in participating and hosting this welcoming and progressive event that will transform the entire Wikipedia, in the continent of Africa, Nigeria and Yobe State in particularly. Wikiindaba play a crucial role in fostering collaboration of knowledge within the different Wikipedia communities, Usergroup and Affiliate across the entire continents of Africa. Wikiindaba is a tools that promote Wikipedia activities and its sister project in bridging the gaps that African Wiki’s are encountered, as a community we are hoping this event will promote our editors skills and shave them more to contribute to Wikipedia and knowledge at large. Our aim during this Important event, is to Retrain our existing editors with skills and knowledge of editing Wikipeadia, and also to build a collaboration space that will bring our editors in a single canopy to learn from each other with minded of promoting Wikipedia and its sister project in Yobe state and beyond. Looking at the current situation of our existing editors, some are not active in editing Wikipedia, we are going to make sure with the help of this program we harness them and pulled them back in contributing to knowledge for the sake of our future generation

Team

• El-hussain14, organizer: i have been involved with key responsibilities in the Hausa communities on projects, which have been successfully been done and the target are achieved. Further I have a versatile experienced to deliver any quota toward achieving the goal of any projects, among the project I organize first Hausa Climate-Denialism and it went successful with all mission achieved.
• Muhammad Musa Tika, Communication leader: is an experienced Wikimedia editor that facilitates in many Wikipedia events, workshops and edith a thon, and organize many Wikipedia training both online and offline, Tika is an effective communicator and also teacher that can communicate effectively to make sure all the necessary information reaches all of our members through our social media handles provided.
• Jidderh, Project manager: a volunteer experienced editor with versatile skills and knowledge on how to manage program. She will serve as coordination, a manager that will make sure everything are put in right throughout the program, and make sure the events is consistent with time frame as planned.

• This proposal will support 28 persons I.e 25 participant and 3 organizers

We are sincerely grateful for the time and effort you invested in applying for a micro-grant for WikiIndaba 2023. Your interest in contributing to this event is highly appreciated.

Unfortunately, we have to inform you that your application was not selected for the micro-grant. We received an overwhelming number of quality applications (77 applications for only 7 grants), which made the decision process extremely challenging. Given the constraints, our focus has been on projects from underrepresented communities or groups that lack on-site representation at the conference. The team decided therefore to provide the grants only to countries where there are no user groups at the moment.

Though your application was not selected, we greatly value your interest in WikiIndaba 2023. Additionally, we encourage you to subscribe to our YouTube channel, where we'll be sharing conference highlights and key sessions.
