We suggest holding a nearby meet-up of Wikimedia fans Club in Bayero university kano State, Nigeria, as a component of the WikiIndaba 2023 convention. An annual conference called WikiIndaba brings together contributors to Wikipedia from all around Africa to exchange ideas, stories, and work on projects together. As a largely hybrid event, this year's WikiIndaba will be held from November 3–5, 2023, in Agadir, Morocco. Participants will be able to interact both in-person and digitally.

Our proposed venue for the local in-person gathering in bayero university kano is the prestigious, which offers an ideal setting for Wikimedia enthusiasts, students, academics, and professionals and the likes, to come together to participate in WikiIndaba 2023.

Increased Wikimedia Presence: This event will help the projects in Federal University of Bayero university kano under kano State and throughout Nigeria become more visible and have a bigger impact.

Knowledge Sharing: By holding seminars, discussions, and sessions focused on Wikimedia projects, we hope to promote information exchange, teamwork, and networking among attendees.

• Abike a skilled editor with extensive experience in Wikimedia projects. He serves as the project lead and is affiliated with the host institution, as a resident and auxiliary staff member. Ismail has actively participated in various Wikimedia initiatives, including winning the third prize in the Wikipedia Awareness and Trainee program at the Gombe edit-a-thon. He has also taken part in the public domain contest, focusing on article creation and updating, and the Wiki climate tours organized in in Nigeria.
• Bemberty is a highly experienced and accomplished editor with a profound understanding of Wikimedia projects. With his extensive expertise, he will serve as the project lead, bringing a wealth of knowledge and insights to the initiative at Ummah College of Health Science and Technology. Throughout his career, Bembety has been actively involved in numerous impactful Wikimedia initiatives. He has successfully participated in various awareness programs, including the Gombe edit-a-thon, where he contributed significantly to promoting the use of Wikimedia platforms. Bembety's dedication to the cause is evident through his participation in projects such as the Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo initiative, the Wikimedia promotion in Akure, and the Wikimedia awareness campaign at Federal University Kashere in Nigeria. Notably, Bembety has made substantial contributions to the African Wikimedia community. He actively participated in the Africa Day Campaign at Kwara State University, as well as the Campaign Writing Contents 2023 and OFWA Cumulative initiatives. His commitment to spreading awareness and knowledge about Wikimedia is further exemplified through his involvement in the Wiki Climate Campus Tour Nigeria, which included engagements with Federal University Kashere, University of Benin, Summit University Offa, and University of Port Harcourt.
• yusufuam an experienced Wikimedian, serves as the Director of Programs at the club. He has actively participated in various Wiki activities and achieved significant recognition, winning the first prize at events such as Wikimedia Awareness in Federal University of Kashere and Wikimedia Awareness in Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo, among others. Additionally, he has contributed as a facilitator at Wikimedia Awareness in Akko.
• Taofeeq_Abdulkareem He is the current community Engagement officer he will be in charging of training the new editors during the event.

About 25 editors are expected to actively participate in the WikiIndaba 2023 initiative in Bayero university ,Kano, Nigeria. To increase their involvement in Wikimedia projects, these editors will partake in a variety of activities, including as seminars, talks, and networking events. Their participation will be facilitated by the microfunding support, which will help this program succeed.

We are sincerely grateful for the time and effort you invested in applying for a micro-grant for WikiIndaba 2023. Your interest in contributing to this event is highly appreciated.

Unfortunately, we have to inform you that your application was not selected for the micro-grant. We received an overwhelming number of quality applications (77 applications for only 7 grants), which made the decision process extremely challenging. Given the constraints, our focus has been on projects from underrepresented communities or groups that lack on-site representation at the conference. The team decided therefore to provide the grants only to countries where there are no user groups at the moment.

Though your application was not selected, we greatly value your interest in WikiIndaba 2023.
