Wikipedia 20

Celebrations for the 20th birthday

On January 15, 2021, Wikipedia will turn 20. For this the event we are organizing:

• A live on Youtube;
• A campaign/contest of nursery rhymes and poems (in Italian and English) about what Wikipedia represents for each of us;
• The participants with the highest score will be offered a gadget and a postcard with the elaborate rhymes.

The texts, released under the free Creative Commons license, will become postcards. All material will be uploaded to Commons under a CC by SA license. The event page on itwiki.

To cover the printing and shipping costs of the gadgets, we asked for (and received) a rapid grant.

Regulation

• Participation in the contest is open to all registered users.
• The texts produced, in Italian or English, must have a minimum length of 6 lines and a maximum of 20 lines, with or without rhyme, on the theme "what Wikipedia represents for each of us".

• The texts must be published on Wikipedia on the prepared page, from 1 January 2021 to 15 January 2021 (by midnight CET), Wikipedia's birthday.
• The texts will be evaluated by a special jury; a ranking of the first 20 prize-winning essays will be formulated and the results will be published by January 31, 2021.
• The winners will receive a gadget (mug and postcard) by post and, if they wish, they will be able to publish a photo of themselves with the gadget received.

Evaluation criteria

The compositions will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

• adherence to the theme
• linguistic correctness
• quality of the message
• use of rhetorical figures
• harmony of composition
