Description edit

This is a Spanish lightning presentations event organized by the WikiCredibility Initiative, a project by Hacks Hackers focused on credibility and reliable information on open-knowledge platforms such as Wikipedia.

In this event, four speakers from three Latin American countries (Mexico, Ecuador and Venezuela) will talk about the challenges in the news and online information ecosystem in the region. We will discuss the following themes:

  • Knowledge and information reliability on Wikipedia for reporting on current news
  • The linkage between media ecosystems and open-knowledge platforms
  • Fact-checking for underrepresented communities and underrepresented indigenous languages
  • Distribution of news and information in the region
  • Adding context to fighting misinformation and disinformation networks at scale

This event is open to the public with registration available on via Eventbrite or Google Form. Registrants will receive the Zoom link and passcode a few days before the event (May 28). Questions from the audience are encouraged.
