The Wikipedia, though an amazing Web based encyclopedia lacks in providing the first hand knowledge when it comes to its articles on Cities/States. This is what good old Intelligence agencies around the world calls “humint” or Human Intelligence.
When I search up a specific city, in the wikipedia I get information regarding the Climate, Economy, Media etc on a city. These, even though informational, doesn’t provide for any light reading on a City. And, is rooted to believe held by the Encyclopedias of the yesteryear, where the information are solid but dry.
Going ahead with the vision behind wikipedia in changing the way people reads an encyclopedia; one should be providing comments from people and the way they interact with the City/State, or any geographic location that can be said to have a specific flavor.
In a city, there are broadly three kinds of people.
Firstly, the persons born and living in the city or moved in while they were still kids.
Secondly, the people who moved to that city as adults to earn a living.
Thirdly, those who are traveling through the city.
The way a city behaves and interacts with these three kinds of people should be an interesting addition to the existing details on the city in a wikipedia.
The most interesting things that we can hope to achieve by this addition are that:
One, this will spice up the dry details presented in the wiki section. Hence encouraging more readers to go ahead and look up topic, even if just for the fun of it.
Two, would help, would be travelers to those cities by providing personal experiences.
Three, give a touch of color and character to the regions.
