| Description :
Some of the most notable features of Wikipedia and all other Wikimedia wikis are implemented using templates and modules: infoboxes, formatted citations, maps, and thousands of others. However, for historical and technical reasons, the templates' code cannot be shared across wikis. This is an acute problem for all wikis: the smaller wikis cannot use these features at all without doing a lot of difficult manual work to import them, and the large wikis cannot share the content easily with each other, because the templates are often incompatible. This presentation will show what the problem is, explain why and how should it be addressed, and what special role can the Arabic Wikipedia have in this process. |
